If you were proposed to at Disneyland, how would you imagine you would want your engagement photos to be? Maybe fun? Whimsical? Maybe even a little bit…magical? Take all that, a 2012 wedding date in Portland, Oregon, and a painfully cute couple with tons of style who just happen to be crazy about each other, and you have Jillian and Tim’s engagement session.
I styled this shoot as well as photographed it, which I have to say is my second favorite thing next to the actual photography. Jillian wanted to integrate a mood of whimsy, Tim’s and her mutual love of music, and something to represent their “destination” wedding, so instead of mixing in too many competing elements, we went with pinwheels made from sheet music and maps. As the stylist, I made over 50 of them–it was a labor of love!
The light falling on Jillian and Tim in this next set hits the “magical” mark.
So pretty.
Some details that helped tie everything together. The boutonniere idea was suggested by the donor of the pinwheel sheet music, Andy!

The next two were proposed images for Jillian’s and Tim’s save the date card, but weren’t selected. I’m going to hold out on posting the actual save the date card and image until their guests receive the cards, which won’t be for a while. Something else to look forward to, right?
Jillian and Tim, again, it was a genuinely awesome day working with you (if you can call it work!). I know your wedding will be all that and more. Can’t wait to see you two make it official in 2012!

Wow. Simply stunning photos Sarah! I remember your search for sheet music and now I know what that was about! I don’t know Tim and Jillian personally, but through your photos I feel like I was able to get a sense of their personalities. Fun, offbeat and lovely all the way. Great work.
